TESDA-DSWD Cash for Training Program

The Cash for Training Program is one of the latest projects of TESDA-III in cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development-III (DSWD). It aims to deliver training programs for the youth for gainful employment. The beneficiaries are individuals determined eligible under the expanded Government Intership Programof the DWSD.

The program has two major components, namely; Training for wage-employment (Trabaho) and Training for Self-Employment (Hanapbuhay). The latter has three basic modes as: 1) on-site training; 2) school-supervised training; 3) NGO partners training

Each scholar-beneficiary will receive a total of P20,000 which include payment of tuition, starter tool kit, and transportation allowance. The program, which will be implemented by TESDA thru its Training  for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP), is expected to start before the end of CY 2012.

TESDA-Coke Program

The Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines (CCBP) and TESDA Project dubbed as Sari-Sari Store Training and Access to Resources (S3TAR) Program aims to benefit women owner and operators of small sari-sari stores (SSS).

In Central Luzon, at least 4,000 women from Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Tarlac shall become direct beneficiaries. It took effect thru a memorandum of agreement signed by CCBP executives, Provincial Directors of the four provinces, local chief executives, and selected women organizations.

The program represents CCBP’s high regard to women as potential engines of economic and community development . It aims to transform women SSS owners into better entrepreneurs by providing training on Basic Entrepreneur Skills and Gender Sensitivity, access to product capital and store merchandising equipment.

On the other hand, the program upholds TESDA’s mandate to provide quality and gender-sensitive training to Filipinos. TESDA-III shall deliver the basic entrepreneurship training.

TESDA Specialista Technopreneurship Program

The TESDA Specialista Technopreneurship Program (TSTP) is one of the newest projects of the Agency. Essentially, it seeks to address the need for employment of skilled tech-voc graduates who were unsuccesful in landing jobs in the formal sector. It promotes self-employment and inspires the graduates to be involved in productive livelihood endeavors to help themselves and their communities.

TSTP is designed to generate livelihood enterprises to be managed by certified tech-voc graduates. The Specialistas shall receive full support from TESDA and the officials of the local government units were the graduates reside.  An aggrupation is a cluster of related skills whose services are highly needed by households and residents, namely; building/house repair and maintenance, beauty care and wellness, appliance repair, computer hardware servicing, food and beverage services, automotive/vehicle maintenance, and small engine repair/servicing.

Under the program, 10 Specialistas will be identified and selected to form an aggrupation. They shall work closely under a TESDA-designated  nurturer, undergo additional trainings, receive starter tools kit (average worth: P6,200/person) and vest-uniform, and respond to and deliver home services.

As of June 30, 2012 Central Luzon has a total of 700 Specialistas with 60 aggrupations.
