DSWD, TESDA-CL prepares for Cash for Training project
Central Luzon’s Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA-CL) braces for the implementation of the P139M Cash for Training Project (C4TP) for the region.
During the recent orientation of Central Luzon’s provincial, city and municipal social welfare at the Heroes Hall, City of San Fernando, TESDA-CL Regional Director Teodoro Gatchalian, explained that each C4TP scholar shall receive a training package worth P20,000. This includes the payment of training fees, starter tool kit, and training allowance. Post training assistance will be provided by TESDA thru its jobs bridging activities. Likewise, the DSWD and PESO of local government units shall assist the graduates to land jobs, and organize and nurture micro enterprises.
With the help of our TESDA Technology Institutions, the public and private technical vocational institutions, and local government units, the scholars will be trained for wage (trabaho) or self-employment (hanapbuhay), he explained. He added that the trainings will be delivered either in-school (classroom-type approach) or on-site thru the mobile training system using the system of TESDA’s Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP). The training for hanapbuhay includes helpful modules on entrepreneurial skills development.
The C4TP is a spin-off of the Philippine government’s Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), more popularly known in the country as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. The project is expected to produce close to 7,000 scholars to be identified under the expanded Government Incentives Program (GIP) being steered by the DSWD. The project is expected to kick-off in 2013.
Aside from the TWSP, RD Gatchalian also discussed TESDA’s pro-active jobs skills matching process, its major programs and services, and the competency assessment and certification program. The latter becomes an integral part of the C4TP since all the scholar-graduates shall undergo competency assessment to affirm their skills proficiency for them to earn a National Certificate (NC) or Certificate of Competency (COC). The NC or COC are indispensable documents that matter in the world of employment especially in overseas.
