Bulacan holds 1st TVET career expo

The 1st Bulacan TVET Career Expo, which aims to promote technical vocational education and training programs (TVET) among senior high school students and to increase TVET enrolment, was launched on March 1, 2013 at the Baliuag Gymnasium, Baliuag, Bulacan with Secretary Joel Villanueva, TESDA Director General as the guest of honor.

The expo also served as a career guidance medium to help students to develop self-awareness and self-reflection to determine a suitable plan for their careers. It was participated in by more than 2,000 graduating high school students and 40 technical vocational institutions operating in the province. Sec. Villanueva, a certified graduate of food and beverage servicing wowed the crowd by showing his wares in Barista. Other skills demonstration on hair cutting, massage therapy, cooking, and cellular phone repair were also conducted simultaneously.

Considered as the first TVET exposition in Bulacan and in Central Luzon, the activity was spearheaded by the Bulacan Association of Technical School (BATS) in coordination with TESDA Bulacan. The guests include TESDA-III RD Ted Gatchalian, Pulilan Mayor Vicente Esguerra, DepEd Division Chief Superintendent Jun Villamejor, representatives from the provincial government of Bulacan, and the presidents and heads of TVIs in the province.
