Central Luzon Champions Gearing Up for Gold Camp 2 of the 2016 Philippine

National Skills Competition

Last May 17, 2016, a Send-Off Program for the TESDA Central Luzon’s delegates

to the Gold Camp 2 of the Philippine
National Skills Competition was held at the TESDA III Regional office. The program was participated by nine competitors and nine coaches of different competition areas who would represent the region. They are joined by their respective Provincial Directors and School Presidents.

During the send-off, a Motivational Session was conducted with Bro. Roman Harold R. Espeleta, OP. The session made the participant appreciate and understand the importance of achieving their goals. Aside from the motivation, they are given refresher training on the Competition Information System (CIS), the scoring system used in the competition. After which a Holy Mass was held to bless all the participants.

“The competitors and coaches have been training for the PNSC since last October 2015, after they won the Regional Skills Competition in Tarlac City, to hone and perfect their skills and competence in their areas. To develop the camaraderie and to work as a team are the aims of this send-off program” said PD Jaime S. Castillo, R3 PNSC Committee Chairperson.

The Gold Camp 2, which will commence on May 23 and end on July 2, will gather tech-voc experts from all over the country and their coaches to undergo a series of training and assessment on the first four weeks.

After each assessment, the competitor with the poorest performance, together with his/ her coach, will be eliminated from the program.
On the fifth week, the
remaining teams per skills competition area will compete in the Philippine National Skills Competition (PNSC). The top two finishers in each of the 12 competition areas will represent the country in the 11th ASC.  This is with the exception of Mechatronics and Industrial Automation

The sixth week will be devoted for the preparation for the next training camp. The training camp targets to gather 82 competitors and 76 coaches in 12 competition areas.

The nine skills competition areas where region 3 would participate are: Welding; Graphic Design Technology; Web Design; Mechanical CAD; Electronics; ITS Solution for Business; Refrigeration and Air-conditioning; IT Network System Administration; and, Electrical Installations.

“The region garnered the most number of Gold Medals in two consecutive national skills competition; these are in 2012 and 2014, where Central Luzon was adjudged as the over-all champion. This time, I am expecting that all of you would do your very best not only for yourselves or for your school, but most of all for our Region thus let us all work hard to again be the Champion this 2016 PNSC” a challenge posted by RD Ted Gatchalian.

In 2014 during the Philippines bagged gold and a bronze medal during the 10th ASEAN Skills Competition held in Vietnam.

Joshua D. Mina, a delegate from region 3 from the CLSU-CTC Foundation in Munoz, Nueva Ecija, bested other competitors in Mechanical Engineering Design-CAD, getting the highest score in the trade area and securing the lone gold medal for the country.
