Igorots of Nueva Ecija Receive Scholarship from TESDA

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) thru the Gapan Computer & Technical Institute, Inc. (GCTI) awarded scholarship to 25 Igorots from Barangay Palale, General Tinio, Nueva Ecija. They were given free training in Electronic Products Assembly & Servicing NC II (EPAS NC II) thru the Mobile Training Program of GCTI. The training which started last May 8, 2019 would last for 22 days.

Aside from scholarship, schools supplies and snacks were provided to the trainees during its training induction program courtesy of Mr. Manolito Mananquil, president of the Farmers Association. Mr. Manaquil also also coordinated for the transportation – military truck, in going to the area.

Barangay Palale and its neighboring barangays in the mountain serve as relocation for Igorot People – an ethnic group in the Philippines – comprising its population. They speak tagalog and ilocano. Mostly depending on farming crops like ginger and cassava, they lead a very simple life. -end

Though the journey is long and tiring, being close to nature is quite appeasing. The calming blue sky and refreshing greeneries are a great treat for sure.

Good thing about the place? No accident of theft. It’s usual to keep your pets or animals in a leash or pen to avoid losing them so it’s really quite amusing to see native pigs just walking around and crossing the road.

Beware though for anyone who can’t live without an internet or messaging. The signal is very poor.

Nevertheless, it’s a nice place with nice people that seeks improvement and changes for a better future.
