Implementation of TVET Scholarship
Heads of Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) from District II Zambales and Congresswoman Doris Maniquiz met on February 9, 2023 to discuss the implementation of TVET scholarship in the said district.
Congresswoman Maniquiz disclosed that the scholarship will be equitably distributed to the TVIs following the sectoral allocation of TESDA. She requires, however, all the institutions to ensure that the training will have a quality outcome which will be measured through the assessment results. She emphasized that all implementors of the scholarship program should achieve a certification rate of not lower than 90%.
During the meeting, TESDA Zambales Provincial Director Melanie Grace Romero reiterated that the allocation for scholarship shall be focused on the priority sectors as a result of the skills mapping conducted in the area. These are the skills requirements of industries under the agriculture, construction, manufacturing, health, tourism, ICT, and transportation and logistics sectors.
Dir. Romero also stressed that the priority beneficiaries of the scholarship program are the marginalized sectors to help them find job or livelihood opportunities.
