In line with Secretary Isidro S Lapeña directives, Seventeen thousand five hundred (17,500) pieces of washable facemasks were donated and turned-over by TESDA Region III, led by the Regional Director Balymrson M. Valdez, to the Department of Social Welfare and Development III on April 29, 2021. The donation was received by Director Marites M. Maristela, CESO III, Regional Director of DSWD in their regional office at the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
The donated facemasks came from TESDA Regional Training Center (RTC) – Guiguinto in Bulacan, RTC-Mariveles in Bataan, Provincial Training Center (PTC) Calumpit also in Bulacan, and PTC Guagua in Pampanga. Training scholars in Dressmaking, Tailoring and Industrial Sewing Machine Operations sewed the washable facemasks thru Training-Cum-Production approach. Thus, aside from the skills that the students acquired, they are also able to produce usable items while on training.
This is one of TESDA Tres contribution to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) and in response to the President’s directive last July 2020 for the mass production and distribution of free face masks to the public.
The donated facemasks are part of the 27,000 pieces produced by the TESDA Training Centers since September 2020. Others were already distributed to barangays and community pantries.
TESDA Tres have been consistently producing facemasks and other PPEs, and have been assisting our frontliners and the communities in need since the start of the pandemic last year.
