JUST IN: ONE OF A KIND COMMUNITY PANTRY SET-UP: Community Vegetable Gardening for Sustainability
“Give a community a vegetable crops and feed them for a day. Teach a community how to plant vegetables and you feed them for a lifetime”
TESDA Region III thru its Tarlac Provincial Office, the Concepcion Vocational School (CVS) has conceptualized a one of a kind community pantry setup. As always mentioned by TESDA Secretary Isidro S. Lapena, PhD., CSEE on his messages, “Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day. Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime”.
In this time of pandemic, food security and food production continues to be the main problem of our society. Indeed, it is very timely that TESDA Region III thru its Tarlac Provincial Office, CVS will conduct a 1-day training called, “Community Vegetable Gardening for Sustainability Project” to twenty-five (25) selected individuals on April 29, 2021 as our immediate response in the establishment of TESDA Community Farm. This project aims to teach the community on how to effectively plant different kinds of high value vegetables in their own backyard with the use of modern, innovative technology on organic farming.
During the opening program, CVS Acting School Administrator Mr. Leonardo E. Pinlac also took the opportunity to inform the participants on the various TESDA programs and services including our scholarship programs.
As the end of this noteworthy undertaking, each participant will be provided with different vegetable seedlings and seeds such as but not limited to tomatoes, eggplants, chili pepper for them to plant in their own garden. In addition, they will experience actual and proper harvesting of available crops of the School and eventually, they will bring it in their respective families for consumption.
