LOOK: Dumagat Folks Attend Training on Organic Fertilizer-Making

As part of the implementation of Bulacan’s Poverty Reduction, Livehood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) programs in the identified development area, Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran (K3), and TESDA’s Abot Lahat program, headed by Regional Director Atty. Balmyrson M. Valdez with Provincial Director Jovencio M. Ferrer, Jr. and PTC-Calumpit led by Gilbert M. Castro, in cooperation with TESDA Bulacan and other partners sustained the provision of outreach programs and other development interventions to Sitio Paco-Santol, San Mateo, Norzagaray.
These PRLEC and K3 outreach programs aims to empower the indigenous people dwelling on the protected watershed of Ipo Dam in San Mateo, Norzagaray so that they can develop their skills and capabilities, achieve self-reliance, and establish sustainable means of livelihood. Such programs are anchored on skills training, crops and livestock production, other related assistance.
For the month of July, two batches of training entitled Produce Concoctions and Extracts leading to Organic Agriculture Production (OAP) NC II under the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) were successfully completed by 40 Dumagats of the Sitio.
The first batch was delivered and facilitated on July 12-14 by trainer organic agriculture trainer Rowell E. Capili. Part of their training included the clean-up, application of fertilizers on the vegetable crops in planted in the model garden, and construction of coops for the chickens and ducks.
On the other hand, the second training batch for the same program was delivered by the same trainer on July 20-22. Other activities performed included the mulching of vegetable crops; construction of bamboo hut, and pruning of trees that shade the model farm.
Number of Beneficiaries:
a. A total of 40 graduates produced from the two (2) STEP training programs; and
b. Additional five (5) households installed with solar night lights leading to a total of 50 households with solar night light installation
