
Revitalization of CTECs of Central Luzon
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Region III (TESDA III) recently gathered all the Community Training and Employment Coordinators (CTECs) in Central Luzon for an assembly with the aim to revitalize the CTECs in the region. The program was held on February 12, 2019 at The Orchid Gardens, City of San Fernando, Pampanga which was attended by more than 140 CTECs.
During the program, Ms. Mary Cris P. Base , Senior TESD Specialist from the Office of the Deputy Director General for Community and Local Government Units Services (ODDG-CLGUS), who represented DDG. Gaspar S. Gayona, OIC-DDG, presented and explained the Important Roles and Function of the CTECs for the development of their community. In her presentation she emphasized that the CTECs are the focal person for TESD in the Local Government Units. She explained that the strategic roles of the CTECs in the LGUs are as Facilitators of training programs, projects and services, Agents of development in the area, Coordinators for jobs, employment opportunities and grants for livelihood/business, Enablers of HR capability in the area and Strategic Partners in the barangay.
A presentation and updates on the TESDA programs and services was done by Director Alejandra N. De Jesus, PD of Nueva Ecija and Focal Director for Community-Based Programs; and Mr. Nomer M. Pascual, Chief of the Regional Operations Division of TESDA III.
In the afternoon, the Best Practices of the CTECs from the Provinces of Bataan and Bulacan were presented. Mr. Hector C. Lintag, CTEC from the Municipality of Dinalupihan gave the participants an overview of his project in Bahay Pagbabago in his town. Dr. Bernadette B. Gabor from Balanga, Bataan gave a glimpse of Panderehas Bakery, their project for the inmates in their municipality. Their program was also featured in the television show Reel Time. Lastly, Ms. Emelita B. San Agustin presented how the partnership between TESDA and the LGU worked for the community-based programs conducted in Guiguinto, Bulacan.
Regional Director Dante J. Navarro delivered the closing remarks. In his speech, he congratulated the new officers of the Central Luzon CTEC Federation, led by Mr. Jose Pepe Emana as the President. He emphasized on the very significant part of the CTECs in the partnership between TESDA and the Local Government Units.
