School-based HIV/AIDS Health Education
On December 12, 2023, the Provincial Health Office – Zambales conducted a School-based HIV/AIDS Health Education with Voluntary Screening and Testing for 61 scholars-trainees of Provincial Training Center-Iba.
The program started with the Audio-Visual Presentation of Invocation and National Anthem featuring an all-women cast as part of the celebration of 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children. It was followed by an opening remark delivered by Engr. Jonathan Alvior, Senior TESD Specialist.
Afterwards, personnel from the Provincial Health Office, led by Ms. Rachelle Pascual, RN, with Ms. Ellaine Moselina, RMT and Mr. Jamil Jared Quintero, RN facilitated the seminar and testing activity.
Brochures and flyers regarding HIV/AIDS and VAWC awareness were also distributed by PTC Iba personnel, led by its GAD focal person, Ms. Kristile Mas.
Said program is a proactive step towards addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic. By educating the students, it provides them substantial information about HIV – what HIV and AIDS are, how they are transmitted, and how people can protect themselves from infection. Aside from the seminar, they also provided testing services in adherence to the policies and procedures protecting the privacy and confidentiality of HIV tests results.
