TESDA chief leads relief op in Bulacan and Pampanga

Deep flood waters caused by tropical storm Maring and aggravated by the habagat did not stop Secretary Joel Villanueva, TESDA Director General from joining RD Ted Gatchalian of TESDA-III, PD Benhur Baniqued of TESDA-Pampanga, and the officers and members of the association of technical vocational schools in Bulacan and Pampanga in the relief operations done in the two provinces on August 24.

“This is our way of celebrating the 19th anniversary of TESDA,” said Sec. Villanueva. The agency was born on August 25, 1994 by virtue of Republic Act 7996.

Early in the day, Sec. Villanueva, RD Ted, PD Luz Amponin of TESDA-Bulacan, and the Bulacan Association of Technical Schools (BATS) donated relief goods in the flood-affected towns of Bocaue, Paombong, and Calumpit in Bulacan.

Afterwards they proceeded to Macabebe, Minalin, and Sto. Tomas to turn over rice, canned, goods, bottled water, and instant noodles to the local chief executives of the affected towns. The relief items will be distributed to hundreds of affected families stranded in relocation areas. Heavy assistance was provided by the officers and members of the Pampanga Federation of Technical Institutions (PAFTI), led by Gene Militante and Gregorio Sison Jr.
