TESDA-CL to upgrade skills for jobs of Zambaleños

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Central Luzon (TESDA-CL) Regional Director Teodoro Gatchalian and Zambales Provincial Director Elizabeth Manio recently joined Governor Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., Vice Governor Ramon Lacbain and the heads of regional government agencies to map out plans to upgrade the skills for employment of Zambaleños.

All regional agency heads and representatives responded to some 14 identified issues related to skills upgrading and agreed on the actions to be taken in the activity dubbed as Agency Regional Offices and Zambales Provincial Officials Dialogue held recently at Gov. Ebdane’s hometown in Sinabacan, Candelaria, Zambales.

The NEDA-III sponsored dialogue is the initial response to Gov. Ebdane’s call for a purposive and focused assistance to Zambales primarily to upgrade the skills of the residents towards employment and productivity. Below is TESDA-CL’s share in the action plan. Also present to provide related assistance are the heads and representatives of DepEd DOLE, DSWD, DTI, CHED, DOST, DA, and an SUC.

-Implement enterprise-based training among tech-voc providers and SUCs

-Enhance training curriculum to include values education and entrepreneurship development

 

Inadequate scholarship subsidy

Purposive and effective implementation of the DSWD-TESDA Cash for Training Program

 

-Rationalize distribution of scholarship slots

 

Oversupply of nurses

Retraining/re-tooling for specific programs

Provision of training thru scholarships, and competency assessment

 

 

 

 

 

 

Job-skills mismatch

-Continuous promotion of Dual Training System

-Conduct of industry profiling

-Close cooperation with the authorities of the three (3) Freeport Zones of Central Luzon based on signed MOA

-Regular review of courses

-Curriculum offered to be linked to industry needs

-partner with LGUs to establish and manage provincial and/or municipal training centers

 

 

 

 

Retraining/re-tooling of workers and labor force to fit the needs of the local and overseas work demands

Need for skills upgrading to promote employment opportunities and address job-skills mismatch

-Conduct appropriate training programs based on key employment generators (KEGs)

Promote delivery of higher order thinking skills (HOTS)

Need for assessment and certification of teachers in Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE)

-Conduct competency assessment and certification schedules
