TESDA Pampanga Provincial Office participated in the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP)

On July 14, 2021, TESDA Pampanga Provincial Office participated in the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) priority program dubbed “PCUP Caravan” held at San Juan Baño, Arayat, Pampanga.

The Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) serves as the direct link of the urban poor to the government in policy formulation and program implementation addressed to their needs. Among its various functions, is to undertake social preparation activities related to asset reform, human development and basic social services, employment and livelihood, other programs of the government for the urban poor.

In the said program, TESDA being the agency mandated to be the “deliverer and partner” of skills training programs in the country, promoted and encouraged the participants to enroll in its scholarship programs and be certified as to their chosen qualification and to participate in its community livelihood trainings. Lastly, the agency offered different services like free haircut and dishwashing liquid making.

This is only one of the initiatives of the government to promote greater understanding of the issues and problems on urban poverty through information dissemination and as well as to continuously foster unity dialogue among the urban poor, government agencies and non-government organizations.
