San Fernando, Pampanga – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-Region III has gathered its seven provincial offices and several private companies at Waltermart, San Fernando for the conduct of World Café of Opportunities (WCO), a job facilitation activity intended to provide employment opportunities for tech-voc graduates yesterday, August 25.
The WCO is one of the major events lined up for the 28th Founding Anniversary celebration of TESDA. Cognizant of the anniversary theme, “Sulong sa Makabagong Trabaho”, the WCO serves as the venue for employment facilitation.
At least a thousand tech-voc graduates are expected to benefit from various job and business opportunities that will be offered during the WCO. The activity is open to all TVET graduates/alumni, unemployed workers, recent college graduates, and displaced workers, particularly those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The WCO definitely provides our tech-voc graduates a great platform to find jobs suitable to their skills. We are bringing together the seven TESDA provincial offices of the region and several companies under one roof so as to increase the hiring chances of the applicants. They are not confined to applying in only one particular area or province,” TESDA Region III Regional Director Atty. Balmyrson Valdez said.
Valdez explained that for this year’s WCO, over 33 companies under the construction, manufacturing, IT-BPM and tourism sectors are joining the event and offering almost 3,000 local job vacancies.
“On behalf of our Director General Danilo Cruz, I would like to thank all the companies who supported the WCO. Their participation reinforces the government’s post-pandemic recovery efforts towards improved economic condition,” Valdez added.
Meanwhile, Pampanga Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda expressed his support to the event through his representative Board Member Rolando Balingit who personally graced the event.
Labor Employment Officer III Catherine Mago of the Department of Labor and Employment-Region III also joined the WCO opening ceremony.
Other government agencies and private entities can also grab this opportunity to find their needed skilled employees or workers.
Jobseekers can also easily access the services of the Department of Trade and Industry, Philhealth, SSS, Pag-ibig, Landbank, Philippine Statistics Authority and Cooperative Development Authority which have put up their respective booths at the site.
August 25 also marks the celebration of the National Tech-Voc Day. ###
