TESDA3 inks dual training accord with Yokohama tires

TESDA-Central Luzon, thru its Provincial Training Center in Tarlac, recently forged a training accord with Yokohama Tire Philippines, Inc. (YTPI) for the implementation of the Dual Training System (DTS).

Led by Regional Director Teodoro Gatchalian and Tarlac Provincial Director Belinda Labutong, PTC-Tarlac Center Administrator Leonardo Tabamo signed the DTS the memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the three vice presidents of YTPI namely Tadaharu Yamamoto, Kesitoshi Morimoto, and Angelina Casasola. PTC Tarlac shall supply welding trainees to the YTPI, one of the largest tire manufacturing firms been operating at the Clark Freeport Zone for nearly two decades.

“We are thankful and delighted that YTPI has become our partner in the implementation of the DTS in Central Luzon. This is a big boost in our efforts to develop and nurture stronger ties with the private sector, especially among the industries” said RD Gatchalian. “We believe that the program is the most appropriate and effective mode of delivery training wherein the public and private technical vocational institutions can directly address the needs of the industries by training and producing skilled workers with positive work attitude,” he added.

For YTPI Vice President Angelina Casasola, “We are very happy about this partnership with TESDA because it augurs well with the achievement of our company’s objectives, and also with our pursuit to relevance thru our corporate social responsibility projects.” This was echoed by hedr fellow VPs Tadaharu Yamamoto and Kesitoshi Morimoto. Casasola added that YTPI has just completed its expansion program which will require additional workers in the next 2-3 years.

RD Gatchalian explained that the DTS, made possible by Republic Act 7686, has since become one of TESDA’s flagship programs in the country today. “We have been rejuvenating the DTS in the region so that the schools and the industries are able to avail of and optimize its benefits. Under the program, the companies are assured of an adequate supply of competent manpower with positive work values while the schools are able to produce graduates whose skills and competence directly match the needs of the industries,” he said.
