Two-day jobs fair lures more than 2K applicants
More More than 2,000 job seekers trooped to the 2-day Jobs Fair organized by TESDA-Central Luzon last July 4-5, 2012 held at the Heroes’ Hall of the City of San Fernando and was formally opened by Secretary Joel Villanueva, TESDA Director General.
At least 1,493 hopefuls participated in the first day and another 862 on the second day, seeking a spot for local and overseas employment. More than 1,000 job vacancies were offered by a total of 132 companies (104 domestic and 28 overseas hiring agencies).
Sec. Villanueva explained that jobs fair is just of the many programs that TESDA implements to accelerate the efforts of the national government towards employment generation and poverty alleviation. “This (jobs fair) is a strong manifestation of our agency’s commitment to empower the people of Central Luzon towards self-reliance and productivity, and to show to the people na sa TESDA, talagang may choice ka!” he said.
Joining Sec. Villanueva during the ribbon cutting and ringing of the ceremonial is Mayor Oscar Rodriguez of the City of San Fernando, RD Raymundo Agravante of DOLE-III and RD Ted Gatchalian of TESDA-III.
According to RD Gatchalian, the Jobs Fair was organized in cooperation with JobsDB, DOLE-III, POEA, Pampanga LGUs thru the Public Employment Service Offices, the Labor Departments of Clark Development Corporation, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan, and the City Government of San Fernando.
