Zambales PG grants P2M to TESDA
The Provincial Government of Zambales, led by Governor Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., once again showed its high regard to technical vocational education as one of the keys to the province’s pursuit towards an inclusive and sustainable development.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Zambales presided by Vice Governor Ramon Lacbain recently passed a resolution granting P2M to TESDA-Zambales for the construction of a multi-purpose building within the compound of the Provincial Training Center in Iba, Zambales. The facility, which is expected to rise in 2013, will be used in delivering technology-based training and livelihood courses for cash-strapped but able-bodied Zambaleños. It will also house a spacious multi-purpose hall.
According to TESDA-Zambales Provincial Director Elizabeth Manio, the P2M grant is part of Gov. Ebdane’s priority projects for 2012 under his 20% development fund. Once completed, it will dramatically increase our training absorptive capacity especially in community-based training which spells good news to our kababayans who are eager to acquire skills for jobs or livelihood, she said. TESDA shall manage the facility and submit reports to the Office of the Governor.
The donation comes at the heels of the Zambales SP’s P.5M grant on June 2012 for the training of tech-voc trainers of the province. This financial grant clearly speaks volume of the Provincial Government’s recognition and trust on technical education and skills development to curb unemployment and reduce poverty in the province, an elated PD Manio said.
