AURORA PDL’S AND PROBATIONERS EARN NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN BAKING

Following a competency assessment conducted at the Aurora Provincial Jail on January 20, 22, and 23, 2026, twenty one (21) Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and probationers gained their National Certificate (NC) II in Bread and Pastry Production, marking a significant milestone for the province’s skill development.

The candidates underwent a 10-day Community-Based Training Program (CBTP) for Bakers, where they honed their skills in bread and pastry production under the guidance of the Ms. Guerlie Espina of the TESDA Provincial Training Center-Baler. The training and subsequent assessment aimed to equip them with industry-recognized skills, enhancing their employability and opening opportunities for livelihood upon reintegration into the community.

Despite the challenging circumstances, all 21 candidates who took the assessment passed, demonstrating their dedication, diligence, and commitment to both professional and personal development. In keeping with national initiatives to support skill development and successful reintegration, this program represents continuous efforts to offer PDLs and probationers easily accessible technical skills training.

With their new NC II credentials, these individuals are now formally recognized as competent in bread and pastry production, empowering them to pursue meaningful employment or entrepreneurial ventures in the baking industry.
